About myself I have been involved with fly tying and fly fishing for about 20 years. I learned the sport of fly fishing on the headwaters of the Oregon Coastal and Cascade Ranges while achieving a fisheries science degree from Oregon State University. Initially settling in Central Oregon, I became active in the local fly fishers club where I began to teach fly tying, became president of the Central Oregon Flyfishers and learned to love flymph fishing. I have often demonstrated fly tying at events across the Pacific Northwest. You may also recognize "Old Hat" from a couple fly fishing oriented web forums. That is me.
About this site This site is offered as a source to exploring all that is flymphs. Flymphs are simply a category of the wingless wet fly. However, they are not neccessarily a simple fly. Take a look at the ABOUT FLYMPHS section to dive into what a flymph is and how to fish this type of fly. As you explore this site you will hopefully come to understand and appreciate the purposeful nature of flymph construction in the FLYMPH TYING section. Exploring the FLYMPH PATTERNS section will give an intimate look at some of the wonderfully creative and classic patterns modern day flymph fishers are filling their boxes with. The TYING LESSONS section is a beginner's tying course for general fly tying. Enjoy! If you have any interest in having me tie up some flymphs for your fishing pleasure, please use the contact below.
