What is a flymph you ask? Well simply put, a flymph is a specific type of wingless wet fly fished as an emerger pattern. The term "Flymph" was used by Vernon S. (Pete) Hidy originally and published in collaboration with James E. Leisenring to the masses in a small book "The Art of Tying the Wet Fly and Fishing the Flymph." in 1971. At first glance, a flymph is a rather simple fly and some may also say a rather drab looking fly. The devil is in the details as the saying goes and as this site grows we will explore together the details of the history, tying and fishing of flymphs.
